What safety measures are required for operating a Class 4 laser welding machine?

A Class 4 laser requires a fully enclosed light-tight safety enclosure or a dedicated laser safety room with interlocked doors. Operators must wear safety glasses rated for the specific laser wavelength. The work area must have non-reflective surfaces to prevent stray beam reflection. Fume extraction is mandatory to remove metal vapor and particulates from the breathing zone. The machine control system will shut down the laser immediately if the enclosure door is opened during operation.
Wobble welding uses high-frequency oscillation of the laser spot to widen the melt pool and bridge gaps up to 0.3mm. This reduces the need for perfect part fit-up.
